Dungeons & Dragons 5th edition uses classes to define a character’s primary occupation or calling, which determines their abilities and powers as they adventure through the game world. Players must select a class for their character at the start of the game, and each class has a distinct set of skills, abilities, and characteristics.

A character’s class determines their role in the party, such as a fighter who excels in combat, a rogue who excels in stealth, or a wizard who excels in spellcasting. Each class has unique strengths and weaknesses, and players can select the class that suits their playstyle best.

There are 12 classes are available as main in D&D 5e. these are:

Barbarian:
A fierce warrior who relies on primal fury and physical prowess in battle. They gain access to a rage ability that enhances their physical abilities but comes at the cost of reduced accuracy.

Bard:
A versatile spellcaster who uses music and charm to inspire allies and hinder enemies. They have access to a wide range of spells and abilities that can buff allies, debuff enemies, and even heal.

Cleric:
A divine spellcaster who serves as a conduit for the power of their deity. They have access to powerful healing spells and can also call upon their deity for aid in battle.

Druid:
A spellcaster who draws power from nature and can take on the form of animals. They have access to a wide range of spells that can heal, control the environment, and summon natural allies.

Fighter:
A skilled warrior who excels in combat, able to use a wide range of weapons and armor. They have access to a variety of fighting styles and special abilities that improve their combat effectiveness.

Monk:
A martial artist who uses their body as a weapon and can harness their ki to perform incredible feats. They have access to a variety of special abilities that enhance their mobility, striking power, and defensive capabilities.

Paladin:
A holy warrior who serves a deity and uses their powers to fight evil. They have access to powerful healing spells and can call upon their deity for aid in battle. They also possess powerful smite abilities to deal extra damage to evil creatures.

Ranger:
A skilled hunter and tracker who is at home in the wilderness. They have access to a variety of abilities that enhance their combat effectiveness and survival skills in the wild.

Rogue:
A stealthy and cunning character who excels in sneaking and thievery. They have access to a variety of special abilities that enhance their mobility, striking power, and defensive capabilities.

Sorcerer:
A spellcaster who draws upon inborn magical power rather than studying spellbook. They have access to a limited number of powerful spells and can choose to specialize in a specific type of magic.

Warlock:
A spellcaster who draws upon the power of a patron, such as a demon or fey. They have access to a limited number of powerful spells and can choose to specialize in a specific type of magic.

Wizard:
A spellcaster who studies spellbooks and learns a wide range of spells. They have access to a wide range of spells and abilities, but their spellcasting is limited by the number of spell slots they have available.
